By thinking the paper as the input that allowed the persistence of personal and humanity's history, the present research aims to understand how the images that were responsible for the identification of the mother for her daughter, photographs, letters, documents, and objects that have the paper as the point of origin and divergence, may return to him, refurbished to the paper manufactured from rags. Having the parallel between the invention of paper, the discovery of writing, until the development of the graphic means as a guide, the research seeks to understand these images by Carl Jung theory and his concept of maternal archetype. Combining the traditional manufacture of the paper, digital engraving and monotype, working with the paper beyond its traditional support function, but as living and integrant part of the work.

The research deals with cemetery art and creative production focused on surface design and textile
stamping. The cemeteries are historical and cultural sources, which in certain places hold works of
renowned artists and tombs of famous people. Thus, in its development, it start with a photographic
survey of sculptures and Gaucho architecture, resulting in a historical and aesthetic look, giving a
different perspective on issues involving death, mourning and spiritual detachment. With the use of
manual processes and digital tools, it enabled the creation of patterns in textile printing, for application
on T-shirts, resulting in a series of stampings with a focus on cemetery art.

Vertical horizons is an artistic investigation, presented in this TFG II, supported by the knowledge acquired and developed, during the course of Bachelor of Visual Arts in this UFSM. The initial motivation resulted in concerns, questions and reflections due to an episode that happened with my mother. A mental disorder, which evolved into an accumulative behavior, resulting in accumulation of useful and useless things. Among these things, countless boxes and unfinished crochet pieces, mandalas, coincidentally the symbolism of the psyche. Subjectivity is the guiding thread and enables a type of production where the process is valued as a fundamental element. The intention is to perceive, to explain and to signify, through the three-dimensional representation, head, since it is one of the most important parts of the human body, guardian of our intellect, knowledge and memories. Box, because it is the receptacle of any entity. I investigate, in this poetic, how these memories can reverberate as artistic matter in a process of sculptural construction, re-signifying these memories. Also, the exposition of the sculptural construction can unfold critical reflections that connect the past and the present time. For this reason, I consider how much the artistic process and its unfolding have contributed and strengthened the experiments of research, creating, experiencing, and generating new research proposals and possibilities.

This research investigates possibilities of expressing the incidence of light in the drawing of portraits, with emphasis on the female figure. It develops a practical research work based on methodology of research in visual arts discussed by Sandra Rey (1996). It results in a series of 10 plastic works exploring different dimensions and colors. It was concluded that the tonalization of the supports and the white coal were elements responsible for achieving the expressive effects of light in the design.
