Equine breeding is part of the diverse range of sectors that composse the agribusiness, and
appears in increasing development due to the large number of professionals involved and,
consequently, the generation of many direct and indirect jobs. The aim of this project is to
characterize the main actor that drives equine breeding, the breeder and owner of horses,
specifically of the Criollo breed. The breed is present throughout the national territory, and the
expansion of the Criollo horse chain has brought together many breeders, service providers,
investors and admirers over the 90 years of establishment of the Brazilian Association of Criollo
Horse Breeders (ABCCC). It is thus necessary to map, to characterize, and know what is the
current profile of the Criollo breeder. The survey was carried out through a from, containing 26
questions, applied to active and regular members of ABCCC, available on the association's
website for a period of 60 days. A total of 771 responses were obtained, which corresponds to
18,5% of the total sample of members. Data tabulation and analysis were descriptive, using
graphs, figures and tables to present the results. It could be observed that currently those who
breed and invest in Criollo horses, see in the activity, in addition to passion and personal
satisfaction, the opportunities for entrepreneurship and good business. This mapping is essential
for the development of other research that makes up the expansion of the production chain of
the Criollo horse, an activity that moves and heats up agribusiness.

Planejamento patrimonial e sucessório: os arranjos jurídicos utilizados pelas empresas familiares rurais

Although the literature confirms the need to carry out estate and succession planning, and
knows the reasons why young people do not remain in the countryside, generational succession
is researched far from hereditary succession, and legal strategies aimed at rural family
businesses are not studied. The migration of young people has a direct impact on succession
processes, as well as the end of rural family businesses, due to conflicts over succession. The
objective of this study is to identify the succession planning strategies used by medium and
large rural family businesses, in the municipality of Júlio de Castilhos, Rio Grande do Sul, from
the perspective of legal arrangements. The theoretical approach that will be followed for this
discussion was carried out by Pierre Bourdieu, who brings the project cultivated by the family
to be perpetuated for the next generations as the conatus, which is not only a project of a
physical, material and objective nature, it also contemplates the values, beliefs, feelings and
emotions involved in the project developed by the parents, that is, in addition to inheritance,
the legacy, brings the notion of habitus as a system of unconscious dispositions that is the result
of the imposition of structures of society and the environment in which they live. Furthermore,
the analysis regarding the Three Circle Model, created by Tagiuri and Davis. The research
approach is qualitative and explanatory, characterized as field research, with face-to-face
interviews with managers of rural family businesses. The results were analyzed through content
analysis, treatment of empirical and documentary material. The results showed that rural
families are not properly organized as companies, no matter how much the legislation considers
them so. Succession plans are informal, with the exception of a small portion of interviewees,
in the percentage of 10% who have a rural family holding, a duly regularized company,
consultancies for the implementation of legal arrangements and family governance, that is,
families that have managed to organize hereditary succession and generational, while the
founders are alive. It is essential to have financial, commercial, communication and human
resources skills. There is an immense need to discuss succession in Brazilian agribusiness,
uniting themes of great importance such as generational succession being planned together with
hereditary succession, that is, with patrimonial and succession planning, through legal legal
strategies for organizing assets, anticipating to the rules of hereditary succession and facilitating
the introduction of generational succession. It is believed that the biggest challenge is the
formulation of public policies, such as international actions, that encourage succession in rural
family businesses.

Absorptive capacity (AC) plays a fundamental role in organizations, allowing them to recognize, assimilate and exploit the knowledge available in their environment, which, in turn, contributes significantly to the innovation process and the strengthening of their competitive advantage . In this sense, this study aims to analyze the influence of absorptive capacity on innovation management processes in a Feed Industry located in the Northwest Frontier region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. To achieve this objective, a qualitative approach was used, exploratory and descriptive in nature, which combined bibliographical research with a single field case study. The results of this study show that the Alpha Feed Industry demonstrates solid skills in identifying, assimilating and exploiting relevant knowledge, translating into significant improvements in its innovative performance. This capacity is fed both by external sources of knowledge, such as interactions with stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, external consultants and observation of competitors, and by internal sources, such as prior knowledge, education level and individual absorptive capacity. The dimensions of potential and realized absorptive capacity operate synergistically, contributing to the company's effectiveness in the acquisition, assimilation, transformation and application of new knowledge. Additionally, the research highlights the direct influence of absorptive capacity on the adoption of innovative practices in areas such as product management, processes, technologies and marketing, strengthening the company's ability to introduce products to the market and remain up to date. However, internal challenges were also identified, such as the need to improve communication between departments, introduce an innovative organizational culture across sectors and overcome resistance to change. Finally, this study emphasizes the strategic importance of absorptive capacity in the competitiveness and development of the Alpha Feed Industry, offering valuable insights for other companies seeking to improve their capacity for innovation and competitiveness in the market.

Índice de sustentabilidade na indústria da erva-mate

Yerba mate (Ilex paraguariensis A. St.-Hil.) is a legacy of the Guarani tradition that the peoples of Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil have shared for centuries. It is usually consumed as a mildly stimulating drink called mate. However, there are numerous other applications, such as in the composition of pharmaceutical products, dyes, cosmetics, food, and beverages. It is a native plant, often produced as a secondary crop on properties, but has excellent potential for expansion and commercialization. Its industrialization for producing yerba mate relies on relatively simple processes, of which little information is available related to sustainability. In this context, this work proposes evaluating the yerba mate processing industry's environmental, social, and economic aspects. Thus, industries from the north and northwest regions of Rio Grande do Sul were interviewed and answered a questionnaire with indicators associated with the tripod of sustainability. The responses were used to create a mathematical model to calculate the sustainability index. As a result, it was found that the maximum degree of sustainability for the environmental scope was obtained in 40% of the industries interviewed, while in the economic scope, it was 25%, and in the social scope, 35% of the industries interviewed. The global sustainability index was identified with a maximum degree for only 20% of the industries interviewed. These results show that there is still room for improvement and the need for interventions so that more industries achieve excellence. The methodology used can serve as a basis for evaluating any processing industry or production chain related to agribusiness. The results based on this system provide subsidies for adapting processes and certifying that production follows guidelines and other standardization aspects associated with sustainability, contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and emphasizing the search for sustainable food production and consumption.
