dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Coronary artery bypass grafting is associated with a high risk of pulmonary complications can be reduced by the use of inspiratory incentive aimed at lung re-expansion. Objective: To investigate the influence of incentive spirometry, the flow and volume in the recovery of respiratory muscle strength, lung volumes and capacities and thoracoabdominal expansion after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG). Methodology: pilot study with quasi-experimental design, conducted with patients undergoing CABG. The sample consisted of 6 patients in the GR and 5 GV distributed by lot. The variables of interest were collected preoperatively, on the 2nd, 4th and 7th postoperative day. Both groups during the entire period of hospitalization, received conventional physiotherapy (free exercises and deep, re-expansion and bronchial hygiene) and additionally according to each group, the protocol of 3 sets of 10 repetitions once a day. Results: The groups were homogeneous in relation to anthropometric variables, duration of cardiopulmonary bypass and length of stay. Intragroup comparison revealed a significant decrease between the preoperative and the 2nd postoperative day in all variables in both groups. Comparison groups, they did not differ. Conclusion: Both boosters used in this study were equally effective in promoting the strengthening of respiratory muscles, thoracoabdominal expansion and lung volumes. | eng |
