O trabalho do serviço social nas instituições de longa permanência: resgatando vínculos familiares e sociais

Abstract

The present work comes to add with respect to the issue of aging in Brazil and in the world, passing through under the laws of guarantee of rights of the elderly, the role of the State, society and the family, before this population. Even the Constitution of 1988, considering the family as a support for the care and quality of life of the elderly, the changes occurred with the evolution of society, with the number of fewer people, reduced economic conditions, the unpreparedness in offering the minimum of care in the family environment, is faced with few alternatives, leading to the institutionalization of the elderly and with this many times, occurring the break of family and social ties. It is also carried out a study of what would be the aging with higher quality of life through debates that go through the stigma, the challenges that cover the universe of aging, the institutionalization in Institutions of Long Stay for the elderly and the work of the social worker before the breakdown of family ties and the appropriate strategies to meet these demands. Thus making a literature review on the theme of human aging and reflections on the experiences arising from the internship in Social Service at Lar Vila Itagiba, with the production and practice of the intervention project according to the demands found in relation to the breakdown of family ties through the realization of a reflective group with families and the elderly, which had its objective achieved before the adherence of family members and their testimonials regarding the meeting. In this way it is perceived the relevance of the work of the social worker in Long Stay Institutions for the elderly, which through its technical-operative competence allows having a real dimension of the various possibilities of its intervention, using instruments such as the interview, the welcome, the home visit and with this, through a qualified listening seeks to establish a relationship with the user in order to know and intervene in their reality.
