Análise de árvores individuais de Eucalyptus grandis W. Hill ex Maiden. através da função spline

Abstract

The description of trunks in singular level is important in forest planning because it provides detailed information about the profile of the tree. From the description of the form by a function, it is possible to organize the forest destination, so that there is accuracy in the estimation of the bole assortment. In the present study, we analyzed individual trees of Eucalyptus grandis W. Hill ex Maiden. by spline function. The data are originated from forests owned by Aracruz Celulose S.A., headquartered in the municipality of Guaíba. For the study, it was selected the class center tree for each diameter class: less than 20 cm, 20 to 30 cm and greater than 30 cm. The calculations were performed using the software R (version 3.0.1). The cubic spline function was efficient for the trunks profile description by precisely adjusting the diameter along the bole, achieving the exact redeem points observed for the studied trees. But their use is restricted to individual trees, imposing constant redefinition of interpolation intervals.
