Aspectos fisiológicos e clínicos da técnica fonoterapêutica de fonação reversa

Abstract

Theme: the reverse phonation is the voice production during the inspiration, accomplished spontaneously in situations as laughter, cry and sigh. Although it is used as treatment technique and voice evaluation, few studies exist describing it, what does with that the larynx modifications during its production are little known. Aim: to accomplish a revision of the literature, describing discoveries related to the use of the reverse phonation in clinic practice, to the anatomy physiology of its production and its effects in the vocal treatment, and the indications and problems of the technique for the disturbances and for the improvement of the voice. Results: they were found reports of significant changes in the vocal treatment during the production of the reverse phonation, as the ventricules distention, the separation of the ventricular folds, the increase of the fundamental frequency, the inverse movement of the mucous wave, besides the facilitation of the dynamic study of the larynx, when associated to the endoscopy, what makes possible better definition of the location of the lesions in the layers of the superficial lamina propria of the vocal folds, allowing a more precise diagnosis of the mass lesions, and, consequently, a more appropriate intervention. Conclusion: There are few studies that describe the larynyx behavior during the reverse phonation and, so that for this technique will be used in a more precise and objective way, it is believed that it should still be accomplished studies that seek to prove it effectiveness voice therapy clinic practice.
