Uma perspectiva veg: a elaboração do documentário “Libertação Animal”

Abstract

This experimental project deals with the creation of the documentary called “Libertação Animal” (Animal Liberation), that discusses vegetarianism and veganism on three fronts: ethics, health and the environment. The movie makes use of the elements that make up the vegetarian community in Santa Maria – RS to bring up a discussion about the way we treat animals. The audiovisual project aims to introduce advanced issues such as speciesism to the general public through a simple and direct language. For theoretical background authors such as Peter Singer (1975), Yuval Harari (2011), Melanie Joy (2015) and Bill Nichols (2010) were researched. At first, a theoretical debate on the documentary and its theme is presented. Next, reports on all stages of production and how they went are shown. The result of this project was a 22-minute documentary and an investigation into the ideological foundation of the anti-animal exploitation movements.
