dc.description.abstract | This study was part of the Special Education Course Completion Project - night, which
focused on promoting discussions on the theme of AH/SD based on the perceptions
of teachers, Special Educators, about students with AH/SD. According to Pérez (2003
) and Winner (1998) in basic education, whether in higher education, these concepts
are loaded with myths that negatively interfere in the treatment of people with AH/SD.
That said, among the objectives of the study, we sought to understand the perception
of the teachers of the night Special Education course at the Federal University of Santa
Maria-UFSM about the subject with high abilities/giftedness. As for the methodological
aspects, qualitative research was carried out with an exploratory approach, making
use of a case study, with interviews based on a semi-open script. The results show
that the teachers, even without initial training for the specific care of subjects with
AH/SD, because they are in a favored context, have knowledge about these students,
about care strategies and emphasize the importance of the Accessibility Center and
the Coordination of Actions Students, centers that provide assistance to the target
audience of special education and continuing education courses. At the end of the
research, the need for investments in research and extension in the area of AH/SD is
reinforced, there is a great commitment from the faculty, and the academic community
as a whole for inclusion, but we still have a long way to go. | eng |
