dc.description.abstract | Afforestation plays an important role in the urban environmental balance, in the local microclimate aswell as in the quality of life of the population. However, lack of planning can have serious futureimplications. Based on this principle, this study aimed to make a qualitative and quantitative diagnosisof the afforestation of Antônio Boscardin, street in the municipality of Frederico Westphalen. In thesurvey, 93 trees and 5 palm trees were identified, totaling 98 individuals distributed in 17 botanicalfamilies and 23 species. The species with the highest frequency of occurrence, with 56% of the total ofindividuals, was Lagerstroemia indica (Extremosa) and, in the sequence, Cupressus sempervirens(Cypress) with 6%. As for the origin of the species, it was observed that 92% are exotic and only 8%are native. Of the species surveyed, 69 were of adult size, and 29 of individuals were young, representing 70% and 30%. The study revealed that in 46% of cases there is no free area for plantgrowth in the soil, and in only 50% the area is considered regular. Of the individuals identified, only 8% had a good phytosanitary status, 87% were satisfactory and 4% of the plants were in a bad statebecause they had severe damage from pests, diseases or physical damage. Of the individuals, 47%need light pruning, 24% phytosanitary control, 16% removal with replacement, 13% removal withoutreplacement. Among the species that showed physical damage, 79% occurred due to pruning, 6%due to vandalism, 10% due to civil construction and 5% due to the parking of vehicles by the curb.It is concluded that there is no planning in the implantation, maintenance and management of treespecies on Antônio Boscardin Street. | eng |
