Quando a universidade torna-se uma praça: o lazer no contexto do campus da UFSM

Abstract

This article investigates the ownership of the campus of UFSM as a space for leisure on weekends, as well as the actions taken by the management of the University. This research takes the assumptions of qualitative approach, with a view to achieving the objectives of the study opted for the field work. Data collection occurred through observations and semi-structured interviews, being interviewed regulars Campus and the manager involved in projects carried out by UFSM. Data were analyzed using content analysis. We found that the absence of public policies Recreation in Santa Maria makes the campus a major public recreational space for the local community, and the UFSM to propose Viva Program Campus is seeking to create leisure activities for the public goer.
