Consultoria em arquivos em empresas das cidades de Santa Maria e Porto Alegre (RS)

Abstract

The research carried out has contributed to the appreciation of the archival work because it highlights both the importance of the work in archive consulting and the benefits of implementing archival systems and policies at the companies that hire a professional in archives. This study contributes in enriching the available literature on archive consulting and may be the basis for other work in this field. From this study we aimed at researching the technical knowledge, the methodology, market acceptability and the services available from archive consulting firms in Santa Maria and Porto Alegre (RS), according to Rousseau e Couture (1998) perspective. This research is classified as descriptive with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The data collection was performed through a questionnaire applied to 66,67% of the consulting firms. From the data analysis it was possible to observe that the consulting firms are small firms, legally registered and follow the archive legislation in the development of their work. Moreover, they have excellent human resources, provide records management services combined to archival technology and, are contacted with a view to prevent future problems. Besides that, they consider archival systems and policies as essential for the institutions and, after implementing the work plan at the clients archives, they observe the improvement in the information flux, document management and the agility in the information access.
