O museu ferroviário de Santa Maria/rs – proposta de plano museológico

Abstract

The Railway Museum of Santa Maria is the central theme of the research, with emphasis to its cultural valuation, which encompasses, besides the materiality of documents, objects, clothing, photographs and building. We also searched subsidies in informal conversations with people of the community that make part of this universe, guardians of the railway memory. The problem studied starts from the difficulty of consolidation and legitimation of the Railway Museum of Santa Maria, where we verify how this heritage is revered by the local population but, on the other hand, neglected, in some aspects, by public power. We seek, thus, to offer an alternative of revaluation of the Railway legacy, from the form by which the community dialogues with the Railway Museum. The Museological Plan would be a viable alternative for organization, diffusion and sustainability of the Railway Museum of Santa Maria, which seeks to contribute to the enrichment of the local Cultural Heritage.
