dc.description.abstract | This work is a research presented to the discipline of Professional Research
Development of the Special Education Course CE/UFSM. The aim of this study
is to verify if non-verbal language stimulation enhances the acquisition of
speech in children with Down Syndrome. Down Syndrome is a genetic
alteration in chromosome 21, children with these characteristics present a
significant delay in development, which also occurs with oral language,
requiring stimulation of targeted and focused work. Early childhood is a stage of
extreme importance in the development of the child, in which verbal and
nonverbal language develops. The methodology was based on bibliographical
research, based on literatures, involving non-verbal language, children with
Down Syndrome and Early Childhood Education. The results indicate that the
stimulation of the nonverbal language of children with Down Syndrome helps in
the acquisition of verbal language, especially in speech. | eng |

A Síndrome de Down é
