dc.description.abstract | The brush cutters are very common tools in the entire world. They are used both in domestic services or amateur gardening, as well as in professional gardening services or semi-mechanized harvests. These tasks are easier to be performed, when using a brush cutter, however, the operator is subject to physical agents, vibration and noise, emitted by it. When this vibration is excessive, it is responsible for causing many injuries to the operator's health, such as Raynaud's Syndrome. Thus, in order to prevent these injuries, it is necessary to control and monitor this phenomenon. For this, are performed evaluations of hand-arm vibrations, governed by national and international technical standards. However, the equipment needed for these tests has high acquisition values. On the other hand, there are smartphones, that are cheaper, and have the ability to measure numerous physical quantities, among them, the vibration. In this way, this work aims to test smartphones, as an alternative method to measure the hand-arm vibration in a brush cutter. For that, the vibration was evaluated in a brush cutter, with two models of smartphones, and a professional equipment, and the results were compared. As a result, the equivalent vibration values, in RMS, measured with the smartphones, differed from the values obtained with the professional equipment. However, with one of the smartphones, it was possible to identify very important frequencies present in the equipment, such as that of the engine and the cutting attachment. In this way, making the use of smartphones for measuring hand-arm vibration promising. | eng |
