O Programa Bolsa Família: a proteção básica na vida dos beneficiários no município de Santa Maria/RS

Abstract

This Course Conclusion Paper refers to the experience of extracurricular internship developed in the Department of Social Development of Santa Maria / RS. Cash transfer programs aim to confront and immediate poverty alleviation. In Brazil, until the moment the program which stands out the most, in this sense, is Bolsa Família. Aiming to comprehend the cash transfers, an analysis about the trajectory of social assistance was carried out, also the thematic of family was contextualized, which is one of the central element of this policy. This paper also approaches social protection and Bolsa Família Program. The purpose of this research is to analyse some current aspects of Bolsa Familia Program (BFP), in order to comprehend how does this program is being managed and verifying if the objective of the program is indeed being achieved, which is the improvement of the socio economic conditions of the families. Documentary and bibliographic research was used, as well as a data survey. At least, 40 beneficiaries of BPF have participated in the city of Santa Maria/RS, that participants answered questions about their perception on the program. The findings obtained on the reports of the data survey indicate that the beneficiaries see BPF as an support, and the financial value of the benefit resulted in a better quality of life.
