O cotidiano de idosos residentes em Instituições de Longa Permanência: A percepção dos gestores

Abstract

The elderly population is showing a significant increase each year, and consequently there are a growing number of new challenges. The changes in the family scenario, the cultural and socioeconomic difficulties related to the elderly and their caregivers, as well as the need for appropriate care directed to this public, are factors that condition the emergence of the so-called Long Stay Institutions. However some places still do not have actions that prioritize the construction of a daily life that respects the uniqueness of the elderly asylee. Thus, the objective of this study was to understand the daily perception of institutionalized elderly people from the perspective of the institutional manager, in order to understand the real understanding and concern about the demands of their residents, as well as the actions suggested and carried out at the institution. will provide a better quality of life in a meaningful and healthy environment. To do so, a methodology was used with a qualitative approach, based on discourse analysis, through a collection containing a sociodemographic record and a semi-structured interview, involving three central axes: everyday, influence of institutionalization, actions developed in the institution . At the end, it was noticed that although there are still some questions to be rethought in the asylum context, it can be observed through the speeches that there is a change in the setting of the institution, a new look at the elderly and their daily life, since the managers are more attentive and concerned to implant practices that respect the specificity of the experience of each individual creating a space of shelter and warmth for the elderly.
