Startups verdes e a dimensão ambiental da sustentabilidade: uma análise na perspectiva das agtechs da UFSM – AusterTecnologia e CowMed

Abstract

The scope of this work is to carry out a study on green startups and the environmental dimension of sustainability. In this context, this theme is approached through an analysis based on the practices experienced by the agtechs of the Innovation and Technology Transfer Agency (AGITTEC) of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), in the last 05 (five) years . Thus, this research faces the following problem: is it possible to state that green startups are mechanisms capable of boosting the reach of the environmental dimension of sustainability? To face this question, this study aims to analyze the role of green startups and their potential to boost the environmental dimension of sustainability. Therefore, the methodology used in the present research obeys the quadrinomial: basic theory, approach, procedure and technique. In this sense, as a basic theory, this study focuses on the systemic-complex epistemological matrix, as it aims to break down disciplinary barriers and develop research based on transdisciplinary scientific knowledge. As for the method of approach, it will be carried out based on the deductive method. In addition, it also uses three methods of procedures, namely: bibliographical research, documental research and field research, as well as operating through the techniques of research of abstracts, records, analysis of quantitative data and the use of the interview in a way directed (structured questionnaires) and undirected (notepad and recorder). From this, the referred study is divided into two sections. In the first, a conceptual theoretical framework is carried out regarding green startups, agribusiness and the dimensions of sustainability. In the second, it aims to present two practices experienced by green startups in the context of AGITTEC of UFSM - the agtechs: AusterTecnologia and CowMed from the realization of a field study, with the scope of identifying how green startups can be considered important technological tools to achieve the necessary environmental sustainability in the perspective of the author Ignacy Sachs. In the end, this study concludes that, through the results obtained in the field, it is evident that, within the rigor of the analysis available by the sample collected, it was demonstrated that the startups investigated foster sustainability, with great environmental concern and that technology, when used in an allied way to the environment, only adds up to today's society.
