This paper brings a viability analysis of Aluminum Conductor Composite Core (ACCC) application in the construction of new transmission lines. Due to Brazil’s geographical extensions and the load growth, it becomes necessary to improve the transmission systems using new technologies. In this scenario, the ACCC Conductors were compared with the widely used Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR) in terms of electromechanical and economical characteristics applied to new transmission lines. There were three different analyzed cases including conductors with the same radius, thousand circular mils and capacity. After comparing those cases it’s clear the significant the benefits of using the ACCC conductors instead of ACSR. Besides that, a future analysis will show the impact of repowering existent transmission lines as a solution to improve transmission lines capacity without building new ones.
