A inovação e a internacionalização na Universidade Federal de Santa Maria: gestão Helios Bernardi (1973-1977)

Abstract

The proposal of this research is based on the assumption that the Innovation and Internationalization actions, recovered through the archival documents accumulated by the Institution, proved in the documentation of the collection of the Office of Rectors, are relevant sources that lead to the understanding and appreciation of documentary heritage, insofar as they prove facts of the construction of the history of the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). It is understood that all the predecessor management of the rectors of the UFSM left indelible marks and contributed, in various ways, to the growth of the current institutional reality, and their actions reverberated, at regional and national level, as well as at international level, through of international relations maintained between the university and various other bodies. The research theme is the institutional memory built from the actions of Innovation and Internationalization at UFSM. From this, one has as objectives to investigate the social and institutional context in the period of the management Helios Bernardi, understood as subject; Identify actions carried out between the UFSM with emphasis on the relations linked to the international institutions focused on Innovation and Internationalization, and report points of connection between the Innovation and Internationalization actions at the UFSM, during the period of the efforts of Rector Founder José Mariano da Rocha, his successor Helios Bernardi and the current administration Rector Paulo Burmann. Thus, the methodological contribution emphasizes the role of the archives and the particularities of the university archives in this context and as guiding referents we have the Axis of Innovation and Internationalization, proposed by Barichello (2012) and, legitimized subject, proposed by Constant (2018). As for the methodological path, the research is classified as basic, its approach is qualitative, and the objectives are characterized as exploratory, bibliographical and documentary. Considering the reference framework, the contextualization of the research universe and the analyzes carried out, the result was the indication of a continuity relationship, based on the analysis of its connection points, between the actions of Innovation and Internationalization, in the three historical moments of the University investigated.
