dc.description.abstract | The present research has as main focus to analyze how China, a rising power, has been using soft power resources to implement and strengthen its foreign policy. To this end, this work focuses on researching the plural categories of power, taking as a starting point the classifications of hard and soft power proposed by Joseph Nye from the 1990s onwards. There is also an analysis of the historical changes that occurred in China. during the contemporary period so that it becomes possible to understand the arrival of a country in the Global South in the category of great power. In addition, there is a study on the soft power tools used by China, in an attempt to create a positive image of its country in the international system, with a special focus on Confucius Institutes. | eng |

dc.description.resumo | A presente pesquisa tem como foco principal analisar como a China, potência em ascensão, vem fazendo uso de recursos de soft power para implementar e fortificar a sua política externa. Para tanto, este trabalho debruça-se na pesquisa das plurais categorias de poder, tendo como ponto de partida as classificações de hard power e soft power propostas por Joseph Nye a partir da década de 1990. Há também a análise das mudanças históricas ocorridas na China durante o período contemporâneo para que se torne possível compreender a chegada de um país do Sul-Global na categoria de grande potência. Além disso, há a realização do estudo acerca das ferramentas de soft power empregadas pela China, na tentativa da criação de uma imagem positiva do seu país no sistema internacional, com um enfoque especial nos Institutos Confúcio. | por |
