Um estudo sobre o conflito de gênero no Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Abstract

Games are an object of study that, although interesting, are very broad and complex. The realization of the present study occurs in the direction of online games studies: the study of one of these games, called Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), a multiplayer and First Person Shooter (FPS) game. The present study, focused on the observation of individuals that play video games, favors a reflection on players of CS:GO, concerning the conflict between male and female players. Based on interviews with players of CS:GO and through participant-observation methodology, this work aims to understand the conflicting relations that are established between male and female players of CS:GO. Based on the affirmation that there is conflict between male and female players during matches of CS:GO, this work is interested in answering in which way these conflicts occur, that is, in which way the conflicting social relations are built between men and women in the game Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
