Aspectos sobre as informações referente a vinda da Família Real Portuguesa ao Brasil, no Vice-Reino do Rio da Prata em 1808

Abstract

The theme of the present research is the analysis of information collected by a Spanish informant, regarding the coming of the Portuguese Court to Brazil, in the year 1808. The objective is to measure the immediate repercussion of the transfer of the Lusitanian royal family to Rio de Janeiro, at the end of the first decade of the 19th century, in the region of the Viceroyalty of the River Plate, in the midst of the dissolution of the Iberian empires in that territory. Taking this last point into consideration, the work sought to articulate the immediate reverberation of the Portuguese Court's move, through the information provided by a spy, with the political, social, and economic processes of greater time amplitude in that region. A particular event, inserted in a context of change, was associated with a historical process of transformations and ruptures. Furthermore, we have sought to analyze qualitatively the content of the documents, as well as to demonstrate the informants' contribution to a system of information gathering about the events of a given conjuncture.
