Arquivos religiosos de matriz africana: a união santamariense de umbanda e cultos afro-brasileiros “Cavaleiros de Cristo” - USUCAB

Abstract

This is an exploratory qualitative monografhy and has as its theme the religious archives, other beliefs and religions of African origin and their importance in the transmission of knowledge and archival practices. The analysis seeks to highlight the difference between the documentary production of the Catholic Church, the attention to documents and archives and how this fact contributes to the preservation, but it also reinforces issues related to the lack of records about other creeds, like evangelicals, Lutherans and Presbiterians. The research also reveals the factors used in the transmission of knowledge in African religions and in houses of religion as well as in the documentary production of the entity responsible for the opening of Africanist houses in the city of Santa Maria, in the state of Rio grande do Sul, Brazil.
