dc.description.abstract | Additive Manufacturing (AM) has become an ally for rapid prototyping in several areas. Traumatological surgeries in general are long procedures and have high added cost, understanding these characteristics, we sought to study the technical feasibility of the virtual surgery method combined with additive manufacturing in the form of guides to assist in the manufacture of the orthosis. This work used of virtual surgical planning, using files from CT scans and a project called BioCAD, which generated a threedimensional file that served as the basis for making the orthosis. In this context, additive manufacturing contributed to the reduction of lead time and costs of traumatological surgeries, especially in the Oral and Maxillofacial area. The results were observed through the elaboration of the current and future value flow maps, besides the chrono-analysis, which showed to be promising within the studied context and reinforced the reduction of indicators such as hospitalization time and surgical block time for the specialty addressed in the research. Thus, the implementation of additive manufacturing combined with virtual surgical planning proved to be effective in this study. | eng |
