Verdade e justiça na obra “Totalidade e infinito” de Emmanuel Levinas
Abstract
Neste trabalho o que tentamos demonstrar foi o de investigar na obra “Totalidade e
Infinito” do filósofo Emmanuel Levinas, o que este pensa e como trata da questão “verdade
e justiça”. Iniciamos nossa investigação dando algumas definições, como a questão do rosto
em Levinas, que adquire, assim, um lugar importante para o autor, pois, é o lugar mesmo da
verdade, esta não mais teórica, mas, ética e ou metafísica, já que o rosto não se presta à
objetivação, esta verdade ética se torna possível se tomarmos em consideração que o rosto é
a expressão da singularidade, do indivíduo, único a existir. E da alteridade, que é
imprescindível para as questões futuras de sua obra como verdade e justiça, que no frente a
frente à nudez do rosto do outro que meu sofrimento, que anteriormente estava em sua
totalidade em mim, ganha sentido e torna-se um sofrer “para que” o outro não sofra. A
subjetividade é substituição, o rosto do outro ofendido é causa minha. Diferentemente de
Heidegger, que mantinha a primazia da ontologia como filosofia primeira, Levinas colocará
a partir de então ênfase na ética como filoofia primeira, em que o ente passa a importar para
o filósofo, portanto a crítica de Levinas à ontologia faz com que encontre no rosto do outro
uma noção capaz de fazer mudar as estruturas ontológicas e de fazer frente à violência e à
injustiça.
