Os brechós e as práticas espaciais do garimpo em Santa Maria - RS

Abstract

The present work made it possible to carry out a study with the objective of understanding how spatial mining practices are modeled in thrift stores in the city of Santa Maria - RS, with the aim of deepening scientific knowledge on the topic. The act of dressing, and consequently thrift store dressing, manifests a relationship between the subject and geographic space, which results in spatial practices. With this in mind, this research proposed the relationship: subject (miner), clothing (thrift store fashion) and spatial practices (mining). To achieve the proposed objectives, participant observations were carried out with three subjects seeking to understand the paths, conduct and ritualistic forms carried out by them in the search for used products and their intimate relationships with the purchasing and resignification process. Forty establishments of this model located throughout the city were also mapped, using thematic cartography. Through the constructed spatialization, it was possible to verify that the thrift store is a commercial model that occupies a significant space in the city. Furthermore, the analysis of the data collected from the miners allowed the carrying out of an in-depth participatory study that corroborates the theories worked on.
