Gênero, memória e patrimônio: o museu das mulheres de Santa Maria

Abstract

The Santa Maria region holds an invaluable cultural, heritage, and identity value, where the community has built cultural elements from daily life, preserving symbols and customs of extreme social relevance. This study, part of the Postgraduate Program in Cultural Heritage in the field of Architecture and Material Heritage, focuses on the research line of Material Heritage Preservation and has as it main objective the creation of the Virtual Museum of Women in Santa Maria (MUSA). The specific objectives include the periodic maintenance and updating of the website, the incorporation of new exhibitions into the collection, the promotion of access through social media campaigns, videos, advertising, and partnerships, and providing a channel for interaction with the public for suggestions and feedback. The study also aims to raise awareness of the importance of women's cultural heritage, encouraging research on their identities, life experiences, customs, festivities, political, artistic, and cultural expressions. The project seeks to strengthen local culture and empower women in the city while serving as inspiration for similar initiatives. The research addresses the relationship between memory and the preservation of cultural heritage, highlighting the neglect and underrepresentation of women's memories in the historical narrative due to the patriarchal structure of society. Thus, MUSA becomes a valuable repository for the life stories, experiences, and contributions of the women of Santa Maria.
