dc.description.abstract | The use of natural light benefits lighting savings and the well-being of users, as it influences physical and psychological health. By understanding that it is necessary to use natural resources in a conscious and efficient way, humanity seeks to adapt to reduce its impact on the planet. The general objective of this work is to develop thermal and lighting performance simulations for medium-sized industrial halls located in the city of Santa Maria, located in the center of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, through computer simulation. The study aims to fill research gaps, especially in Brazil, where abundant solar radiation offers ideal opportunities to illuminate large industrial halls. The chosen methodology was virtual simulation, which used EnergyPlus and Designbuilder software. sDA and ASE analyzes were employed to evaluate illuminance, as indicated by INI-C, while thermal performance was developed by the ASHRAE Standard 55 Adaptive Model. The results revealed that pavilions with 6% skylight in the East-West orientation present better performance. The building stood out, recording 51.03% comfort, 34.41% discomfort due to cold and 14.56% discomfort due to heat. The ASE and sDA metrics were defined as 'Neutral' and 'Clearly Acceptable Spaces', respectively. The study contributes to the understanding of ideal simulation for the use of natural light, avoiding unwanted thermal gains. By generating data and promoting the use of simulations, the aim is to encourage the replicability of the study in different contexts, promoting the conscious use of natural resources. | eng |
