Investigação da escoliose idiopática em crianças e adolescentes: revisão integrativa
Abstract
A escoliose idiopática é uma deformidade tridimensional da coluna vertebral de etiologia desconhecida, sua progressão está associada ao estirão do crescimento e o desenvolvimento ocorre na infância e pode ser agravada na adolescência. Essa revisão integrativa teve por objetivo identificar estudos que investigaram a escoliose idiopática em crianças e adolescentes, publicados nos últimos cinco anos, e descrever sua prevalência e tratamento fisioterapêutico mais utilizado. A busca pelos estudos foi realizada no período de janeiro a maio de 2013 nas bases de dados SciELO, LILACS e MEDLINE, analisadas por duas pessoas de forma independente, cruzando-se os títulos obtidos para verificação de repetições. Obtiveram-se seis estudos, quatro deles de prevalência e apontaram uma variabilidade de 0,47% a 7%, com maior incidência no sexo feminino e dois estudos relacionados ao tratamento fisioterapêutico com utilização do método iso-streching, terapia manual, alongamentos, uso de órtese e o método FITS para essa deformidade. Através deste estudo, observou-se que a prevalência encontrada nos artigos selecionados foi comparável com a descrita na literatura, com maior incidência no sexo feminino. Em relação ao tratamento fisioterapêutico, os dois estudos demonstraram significativas melhoras após tratamento proposto. No entanto, há uma escassez de estudos que abordam tratamento fisioterapêutico nesta deformidade.
