Uma análise preliminar da energia embutida no cimento considerando Brasil e Reino Unido

A partir da crise energética dos anos 70, a busca pela redução no consumo de energia
nos processos produtivos tem aumentado. Um dos métodos mais utilizados neste
contexto, refere-se a energia embutida no produto, que considera o consumo da
energia correspondente a extração da matéria prima, transformação e transporte.
Visando posicionar o Brasil em relação a energia embutida no cimento Portland com
o Reino Unido, país desenvolvido e com produção correspondente a 12,80% do total
produzido no Brasil, foi comparada a energia embutida no cimento Portland entre os
países em um período de cinco anos; observou-se que no Brasil este número foi
21,43% maior. Para verificar se houveram reduções no consumo de energia elétrica
e coque de petróleo pela indústria cimenteira do Brasil, foi quantificado o consumo
destas energias por tonelada de cimento produzido entre 2009 e 2013, demonstrando
redução de 1,04% no gasto de eletricidade em relação ao período analisado, embora
o consumo de coque de petróleo tenha sido constante. O estudo demonstrou que a
busca pela melhoraria da eficiência energética no setor apresentou-se maior no Reino
Unido que no Brasil, a exemplo da diminuição em 44,8% no consumo específico de energia
obtida na produção em 2010, muito devido ao uso de materiais recicláveis como combustível
(MPA, 2017).
