A obrigatoriedade do estudo da história e cultura afro-brasileira: um desafio aos gestores escolares

Essa pesquisa tem o intuito de abordar questões sobre as relações étnica-racial no contexto escolar, levando em conta as percepções que os gestores tem sobre: identidade negra e igualdade racial no ambiente escolar. Uma gestão interessada na educação das relações étnico-raciais pode auxiliar as crianças, em especial as crianças negras, a buscarem sua identidade e se reconhecerem através das imagens, conteúdos e representações que estão no ambiente onde elas passam uma boa parte do seu tempo, a escola. Por isso, torna-se desejável intensificar um olhar crítico sobre essa temática para que a escola não venha reproduzir preconceito. Essa pesquisa foi desenvolvida com gestores de três escolas do município de Santa Maria/RS, escolhidas aleatoriamente, duas estaduais e uma particular (afim de comparar realidades diferentes) tendo como objetivo compreender as percepções dos gestores frente às relações étnicas no ambiente escola e se esses têm conhecimentos sobre as Políticas de Ações Afirmativas que visam a igualdade racial no contexto escolar. Os resultados da pesquisa demonstram que os gestores devem dialogar mais sobre as relações étnico-raciais e que os negros não devem ser lembrados apenas em datas comemorativas, mas sim durante todo ano letivo.
