As contribuições do IHGB, do Colégio Pedro II e do livro didático na constituição da História como disciplina escolar no Brasil do séc. XIX uma revisão historiográfica
Abstract
O objetivo deste artigo é tentar perceber através de uma análise bibliográfica, a contribuição
do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico do Brasil, do Colégio D. Pedro II bem como dos livros
didáticos na constituição e consolidação da História como disciplina escolar no Brasil do
século XIX. O próprio Estado brasileiro assume a tarefa de criar as citadas Instituições
culturais, pois elas promoveriam mecanismos com o propósito de criar uma representação
histórica positiva do recém criado Estado Imperial. Para o desenvolvimento deste trabalho,
realizamos um estudo historiográfico em livros que tratam sobre o tema e cujos autores
tiveram acesso direto as fontes primárias, procurando perceber como elas relacionam às duas
Instituições e o manual didático na formação e desenvolvimento da disciplina de Historia no
Brasil Império. O conjunto de autores lidos é unânime em afirmar que os escritores do IHGB
construíram uma representação de um Brasil democrático, pacifico e homogenio, onde as
etnias européia, indígena e africana mantinham convivência harmoniosa. A História oficial
destaca a ação civilizadora iniciada pelos portugueses e que deveria, conforme essa versão, ter
continuidade com a participação das elites intelectuais brasileiras preparadas por, entre outros
meios, o ensino e a leitura da História do mundo ocidental e cristão e da História do Brasil,
com destaque para o ensino no Colégio Secundário Pedro II. Essa visão historiográfica
produzida pelo Instituto vai ser reproduzida pelos manuais didáticos e pelos professores de
História do Brasil.
