A disciplina de matemática Discreta abordará os conteúdos relevantes na computação, principalmente nas áreas de programação e modelagem matemática. Este livro abordará conceitos básicos sobre a Teoria dos Conjuntos e aprofundará conteúdos como Indução Matemática e Teoria dos Grafos. Por fim, veremos um problema clássico de modelagem matemática e dois problemas que possibilitarão ao aluno pesquisar e compreender uma das aplicações práticas da matemática discreta na computação. Este livro está organizado da seguinte forma: O Capítulo 1 apresenta os conceitos básicos sobre a Teoria dos conjuntos, como as definições dos termos que serão utilizados e as operações sobre conjuntos. O Capítulo 2 apresenta os conceitos sobre funções e relações. Tanto na matemática quanto na computação os conceitos de funções são fundamentais. Neste capítulo abordaremos os conceitos matemáticos sobre funções e suas relações. O Capítulo 3 apresenta os conceitos fundamentais sobre a indução matemática e recursividade.
O Capítulo 4 apresenta os conceitos sobre conjuntos contáveis, incontáveis e enumerabilidade. Tais conceitos fazem parte da teoria dos conjuntos e são importantes na resolução de problemas que envolvam a enumerabilidade de conjuntos. O Capítulo 5 apresenta conceitos sobre grafos e árvores. Tais conceitos fazem parte da Teoria dos Grafos e possuem inumeras aplicações tanto na matemática quanto na computação. O Capítulo 6 apresenta alguns problemas clássicos da teoria dos grafos. Esses problemas são pesquisados e utilizados como referência de estudos na grande
maioria dos livros didáticos sobre teoria dos grafos.
