Ação antisséptica do selante à base de extrato alcoólico de corymbia citriodora utilizado pós-ordenha
Abstract
O leite é rico em nutrientes e, devido as suas características, é suscetível à ação de micro-organismos. Assim, os cuidados nos procedimentos de obtenção, armazenagem e transporte são fundamentais para a manutenção de sua qualidade. A antissepsia dos tetos após a ordenha reduz o número de micro-organismos causadores de contaminações e infecções. Químicos comerciais utilizados na higiene da ordenha aumentam o custo da produção e, em concentrações inadequadas podem deixar resíduos no leite. Produtos caseiros, elaborados com plantas medicinais, como o selante de semente de linhaça e extrato de eucalipto (Corymbia citriodora) pode ser uma alternativa para os agricultores familiares. Apesar do relato positivo dos produtores em relação ao uso dessa receita, não há atualmente experimentos a campo que comprovem sua eficácia. O objetivo deste trabalho foi investigar a ação do selante caseiro na redução bacteriana da superfície dos tetos das vacas leiteiras, comparar sua ação com a do iodo a 0,5% e avaliar a sua aplicabilidade na unidade de produção familiar. Foram utilizadas 12 vacas em lactação separadas em três grupos; o grupo controle, o grupo tratado com iodo a 0,5% e o grupo tratado com a solução caseira. O selante mostrou-se eficiente para reduzir a carga bacteriana da superfície dos tetos. Ao comparar a sua eficácia com o iodo comercial verificou-se que o mesmo teve desempenho semelhante ao produto químico, em relação à redução da contagem bacteriana total. Pôde-se concluir, portanto, que a solução selante constitui-se numa alternativa viável para os agricultores familiares.
