Da pressão estética à gordofobia: violências nos memes em tempos de pandemia de Covid-19
Abstract
A pandemia de COVID-19 impacta o mundo, transforma rotinas, assim como expõe a forma como nos
relacionamos com os corpos. A disseminação de memes da internet com temáticas que se voltam ao medo do
aumento da gordura corporal no período pandêmico enfatiza construções sociais de poder a partir dos corpos.
Neste contexto, este estudo busca compreender como as construções de pressão estética e de gordofobia estão
engendradas nas representações dos corpos femininos presentes nos memes difundidos no Brasil durante a
pandemia de COVID-19 em 2020. O suporte teórico volta-se à apontamentos sobre a pandemia sob uma
perspectiva de gênero, a compreensão do surgimento e do desenvolvimento do meme como elemento cultural
brasileiro, a articulação da subjetividade e do corpo feminino, além das construções de beleza e de hostilização a
partir do tamanho dos corpos. A investigação baseou-se na Análise de Discurso aplicada em um corpus composto
por memes coletados no Instagram e no Google. Os resultados mostram discursos que perpetuam violência
estrutural e violência de gênero através da construção da imagem corporal feminina. O material revela que as
construções sociais sob o corpo e a beleza estão presentes desde a infância entre as meninas e as tornam rivais na
vida adulta. Os discursos ainda operam classificações e hostilizações das mulheres a partir dos corpos. Por fim, as narrativas revelam o corpo magro feminino como símbolo de beleza e sucesso enquanto que o corpo gordo feminino é associado a feiura e outras marcas negativas.
