Sustentabilidade empresarial: uma análise das empresas do distrito industrial de Santa Maria/RS

Diante das preocupações em se manter um planeta sustentável, e as exigências cada vez maiores da sociedade como um todo, coube às empresas buscar o desenvolvimento de ações para o cumprimento deste ideal, e assim sobreviver em um mercado competitivo, atendendo as necessidades da sociedade e do meio ambiente. Nesse contexto, se inserem as empresas localizadas no Distrito Industrial de Santa Maria/RS. Em vista disso, o presente estudo tem como questão problema: qual é o posicionamento das empresas instaladas junto ao Distrito Industrial de Santa Maria em relação à sustentabilidade empresarial? A partir do problema ora apresentado, se propôs a identificar o nível de sustentabilidade apresentado pelas empresas instaladas junto ao Distrito Industrial de Santa Maria/RS. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de caráter exploratório-descritivo com análise dos dados de forma qualitativa, sendo sua coleta de dados desenvolvida por meio de um questionário estruturado, proposto por Callado (2010), onde foram averiguados 43 (quarenta e três) indicadores de sustentabilidade, divididos em suas três dimensões básicas (ambiental, econômica e social). Os resultados indicaram que apenas 1 (uma) das 6 (seis) empresas estudadas atingiu um índice de Sustentabilidade Relativo, e em contrapartida outras 2 (duas) ficaram muito abaixo do desejado, pois dispuseram de desempenho insuficiente. Apesar de serem atuantes em ramos de atividades distintos, todas as empresas são coresponsáveis quando se menciona o fato de desenvolver suas atividades de maneira que possam garantir um meio ambiente preservado e com condições sociais adequadas às futuras gerações.
