Abstract

This dissertation provides an exercise in Portuguese language translation of Aristotle's text "De Memoria et Reminiscentia" from the Greek text. The translation serves the purpose of consultation and didactic use in an introduction to the philosophy of memory, specifically in presenting Aristotle's theory of memory. The work begins by introducing the book, its structure, and its main arguments. Next, the translation exercise is presented in the following section, where the consulted translations are discussed and the specificities of the provided translation are highlighted. The essayistic comments offer complementary interpretation to the introduction to the studies of philosophy of memory and an original contribution to the interpretation of the work in the field of ancient Greek philosophy. The dissertation concludes with final considerations directed towards self-evaluation of the translation and the translator's work.
