Modelagem e otimização da biolixiviação da esfalerita por Acidithiobacillus Ferrooxidans em frascos agitados
Abstract
A demanda mundial por zinco, assim como de diversos outros metais como cobre e chumbo, apresenta elevadas tendências de aumento. No entanto, apenas uma pequena parcela destes metais advém da reciclagem, sendo ainda, a exploração mineral a sua principal fonte. Em face disso, adscrito às questões ambientais em adotar rotas de processamentos mais eficientes, o emprego da biolixiviação, torna-se uma técnica economicamente de baixo custo para a recuperação de metais em minérios de baixos teores, rejeitos ou mesmo concentrados. Dessa forma objetivou-se identificar e quantificar a interação entre parâmetros físico-químicos importantes – concentração de Fe+2, porcentagem de sólidos, pH e percentual de inóculo– em um processo de biolixiviação de um concentrado de esfalerita, utilizando metodologia superfície resposta (MSR). Devido às limitações quanto a viabilidade de realização de quantidade excessiva de experimentos, como os que ocorrem nos planejamentos fatoriais completos, utilizou-se o delineamento composto central (CCD), com 8 pontos centrados na face e 4 pontos centrais, objetivando a otimização do processo de extração de zinco. Para obtenção de maiores extrações de zinco, a fixação da % de sólido, na faixa de 4–5,5%, não sofreu o efeito de variação da concentração de Fe+2. De forma contrária, os valores para a extração de zinco em % de sólidos elevadas, se mostrou sensível às variações de pH. Por fim, ainda que a regressão curvilínea não tenha se mostrado significativa, a apresentação dos resultados com a Metodologia Superfície Resposta ajudou na visualização e melhor interpretação da extração de zinco dentro das condições experimentais estudadas.
