Efeito mediador do código de ética na relação entre capital psicológico, comprometimento profissional afetivo e princípios de ética contábil

Esta pesquisa objetiva analisar o efeito mediador do código de ética na relação entre capital
psicológico, comprometimento profissional afetivo e princípios de ética contábil de estudantes
do curso de Ciências Contábeis. Para tanto, realizou-se uma pesquisa descritiva, de
levantamento e com abordagem quantitativa (Modelagem de Equações Estruturais - MEE). A
população do estudo compreendeu todos os acadêmicos do curso de Ciências Contábeis de uma
Instituição de Ensino Superior do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. A amostra constituiu-se de 182
estudantes que participaram voluntariamente da pesquisa. As variáveis analisadas referem-se
ao código de ética (CE), capital psicológico (CP), comprometimento profissional afetivo (CPA)
e princípios de ética contábil (PEC). Para atingir os objetivos do estudo, foi desenvolvido um
modelo teórico de análise, contendo oito hipóteses, que versam sobre as relações propostas. Os
resultados revelaram que o CP apresenta efeitos positivos no CPA e este comprometimento
influencia positivamente o entendimento do CE e aplicação dos PEC. Além disso, o
entendimento do CE melhora a aplicação dos princípios de ética contábil. Estes resultados
revelam que quando os estudantes pesquisados possuem autoeficácia, esperança, otimismo e
resiliência, maior tende a ser o seu comprometimento profissional afetivo e este desencadeia
maiores níveis de entendimento do código de ética e aplicação dos princípios de ética contábil.
Desta forma, tanto o CP quanto o CPA devem ser promovidos no ambiente da graduação, para
que os acadêmicos tenham maior conhecimento e aplicação das diretrizes éticas na profissão
contábil. Em relação aos efeitos mediadores, constatou-se apenas os efeitos indiretos positivos
do CE na relação entre CPA e PEC, o que revela que maiores níveis de conhecimento do código
de ética contábil, proporcionam um maior comprometimento profissional afetivo com as
atividades de trabalho e aplicação dos princípios de ética contábil (integridade, objetividade,
competência profissional e devido zelo, confidencialidade e comportamento profissional). Por
outro lado, o CE não apresentou efeito mediador na relação entre CP e PEC, achado que indica
que há outras variáveis que tendem a potencializar os efeitos do CP na aplicação dos PEC, como
é o caso do CPA, conforme também revelado nesta pesquisa. Assim, quanto maior o CPA dos
estudantes participantes do estudo, maiores são os seus níveis de CP e aplicação dos PEC. Os
resultados desta pesquisa contribuem para a literatura, pois preenchem uma lacuna existente
sobre os efeitos do CP no contexto da ética na profissão contábil, pois são incipientes os estudos
que analisaram os efeitos do CP no CPA, CE e PEC. Além disso, contribuem para o curso de
Ciências Contábeis, pois proporcionam um panorama de que o CP e o CPA devem ser
melhorados ao longo da graduação, por meio de palestras, treinamentos, visto a importância
destas variáveis psicológicas para o entendimento e aplicação do código de ética e dos seus
princípios na área contábil, o que também fortalece a profissão contábil como um todo.
