Trabalhadores, racialização e imprensa em Santa Maria na Primeira República (1912-1920)
Abstract
A presente pesquisa tem por intuito visualizar a racialização nas relações entre
trabalhadores em Santa Maria (RS), a partir da imprensa, utilizando-se o jornal
Diário do Interior, durante os anos de 1912 a 1920. Diante disso, compreender como
a racialização era expressada nos textos do periódico, em específico, com as
notícias que relatavam conflitos entre trabalhadores. Para isto, usa-se o Diário do
Interior como fonte principal e outras duas fontes acessórias para efetuar
cruzamentos, aprofundamentos, ratificações e análises mais aprofundadas quando
isso for possível. Estas são o Livro de Registro do Hospital de Caridade de Santa
Maria (LR HCSM) e processos-crimes da Comarca de Santa Maria. Os exemplares
do Diário do Interior encontram-se no Arquivo Histórico Municipal de Santa Maria
(AHMSM), compondo o acervo inicial de 1911 a 1939. Neste trabalho, porém,
analisaremos os exemplares entre 1912 a 1920. O LR HCSM tem o acervo
fotografado e fichado de forma digital e os processos-crimes estão digitalizados pelo
AHMSM. Considerando que o objeto de pesquisa é a racialização, os conceitos de
racialização, branquitude e colonialidade do poder ajudam a desenvolver
teoricamente. O presente trabalho se insere nos campos do Pós-abolição e Mundos
do Trabalho, porque busca pensar nesses trabalhadores racializados, que aparecem
sendo negros ou brancos. O olhar por meio do Pós-abolição tem por objetivo
visualizar esses labutadores negros, que estão vivenciando as dinâmicas de
racialização dentro do cotidiano da cidade.
