dc.description.abstract | This paper presents a study of biological agents in the collection of health UFSM
Central Library. Through this, we tried to emphasize the importance of conservation
of documents, since it can be considered one of the functions essential to the
preservation of library collections and archives. The research was based on the
reality of the Central Library, that is, the environmental problems raised by the data
collection made by analyzing the existence of micro-organisms in the environment
and materials, as well as the humidity, ventilation and temperature. The results
demonstrated the need to use resources to correct high levels of moisture in the
basement of Central Library, temperature control and ventilation. There is a need for
further studies for verification of fungi and bacteria in other materials, as tests
showed evidence of the existence of the documents analyzed. It was concluded that
regulation of a manual for the preservation of documents would be important to
recommend care for the environment of the acquis in order to avoid creating
problems that may affect the well being of the Central Library patrons UFSM. | eng |

as condições de umidade, ventilação e temperatura.
