A digitalização dos documentos arquivísticos do Comando da Aeronáutica (COMAER)

Abstract

The object of research for this work is the digitalisation of the archival documents produced within the scope of the Aeronautics Command. In this regard, the objective is to analyse the technique of document digitalisation in order to verify its role in the treatment of, and access to, the documents. In an attempt to understand the context in relation to digitalisation, the documents of individual settlements of military personnel that compose the archive of a Military Organisation belonging to the COMAER (Aeronautics Command) will be analysed. For this to be carried out, the digitised documentation will be examined in light of Archival Science concepts, terminologies and recommendations. The mechanisms and methods used by the company outsourced by SEGECAE (General Aeronautics Correspondence and Archive Service) in the digitalisation procedure for this documentation set will also be presented. This work is justified by drawing on the theory of professional archival practice. From a review of the literature and the survey, analysis is proposed to establish whether, in fact, digitalisation enables the storage, preservation and access to the archival documents through their resources.
