O panorama político santa-mariense através das atas da Câmara Municipal e o Jornal A Razão 1964-1968
Abstract
O ano de 1964 foi marcado pelo Golpe que derrubou o Governo de João Goulart (1961-1964). O novo governo, liderado por militares e civis, legitimou o poder através de Atos Institucionais para cumprir as metas propostas do novo modelo político que se instaurou no Brasil e também para cancelar as liberdades individuais e coletivas, com cassações de mandatos e suspensão de direitos políticos. Este estudo apresenta a construção e a consolidação desse novo modelo político civil-militar. Parte da utilização da crise econômico-política do Governo de João Goulart e a presença de um imaginário anticomunista na elite brasileira, em um mundo caracterizado pela bipolarização, justificativas para a conquista do apoio ao projeto golpista. A partir deste cenário nacional, foi importante averiguar as posições políticas presentes na imprensa jornal A Razão e no Parlamento santa-mariense, através de seus edis e idéias de seus respectivos partidos políticos. Nesse sentido, Santa Maria, caracterizada pela presença de um forte reduto trabalhista, representado pelo Partido Trabalhista Brasileiro (PTB), como também de um núcleo conservador, apresentou um cenário de disputas políticas. No centro delas se confrontavam as diferentes facções de apoiadores e opositores de Goulart o qual colocou em conflito as propostas trabalhistas com as posições do Governo Civil- militar.
