Abstract

This study arms to describe and analyze the structure, links and support network of a family that lives with a person with a mental disorder. Qualitative study, exploratory and descriptive research, developed with the parents of a person with mental disorder. Data production occurred through the semi-structured interview in August, 2017. It was used the Guide to Family Assessment and Intervention, which recommends the use of the genogram to know the family structure and the use of ecomap to present its links and its relation with external elements. It can be seen a psychosocially vulnerable family. Support network focused on emergency, outpatient and inpatient services. Without access to Therapeutic Residential Services and the Family Health Strategy does not provide the necessary support. Unsatisfactory family ties, few leisure options and places for social reintegration. The utilization of these instruments in order to better understand the context of the family and help in the elaboration of strategies for health promotion and recovery.
