Considerações acerca dos aspectos emocionais no vivido do paciente oncológico ostomizado

Abstract

The objective of the present study is to analyze the emotional repercussions caused by the use of ostomies in patients that are in oncological treatment. This is a cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. To collect the data, a form was applied with questions that presented the sociodemographic characteristics, clinical characteristics and characterization of feelings and perceptions after the placement of the ostomy. The sample is composed of 30 participants, comprised between July and September of 2017, in the chemotherapy, radiotherapy and medical clinic sectors of an university hospital. The results evidenced the importance of the emotional support of patients and caregivers, from diagnosis to the period of adaptation of the new ostomy condition, as well as more studies focusing on the emotional aspects as essential in the treatment and rehabilitation of the ostomy patient. It was concluded that the psychological support should be realized with the patient and his / her relatives, from an initial diagnostic communication, a way to support they, so that they can deal with the difficulties experienced during the treatment. In addition, it is necessary that this support extends to the period of adaptation and changes, as in the case of living with an ostomy.
