Abstract

This work aims to contribute for understand the situation of permanent preservation areas in the Ramada settlement, city of Júlio de Castilhos - RS, identifying land use conflicts in relation to environmental legislation. For this purpose, were used as research tools thematic maps elaborated with GIS techniques. It emerged that the Ramada settlement APP are very impacted by human action, because in approximately 33,2% of total APP dominated the native fields are used as grasslands for dairy cattle and soybeans crops. In this context, although the legal protection, these spaces have not been properly preserved, remaining at the mercy of socioeconomic reproduction of settled families. Therefore, a proposed of continuing for this work, can be the understanding of the reasons that induce families to use protected areas.
