O conflito da representação nas narrativas de Luigi Pirandello: a (des) humanização da arte

Abstract

Luigi Pirandello stood out in the dramaturgy field and Italian literature in the end of the XIX century and in the beginning of the XX one writing short stories, poetry, novels, critical assays, fantastic narratives and plays. He lived the turbulent context of the modernity consequently experiencing, in a dramatic way, the destabilization of the human being. In the context of dramaturgy, Pirandello refused the idea that the character should ―represent‖ the human being. His metatheater plays materialize the desire of being free from the mandatory mimetic. Based on this assumption, we intend to discover how Pirandello approached the inevitable and undesirable presence of man in his short stories and novels. We emphasize that the expression "(de) humanization" is not related to the Deconstruction proposed by Derrida, but to the concept of "dehumanization" of Ortega Y Gasset.
