A importância da família no processo de desenvolvimento do sujeito com deficiência intelectual

Abstract

The study entitled The Importance of the Family in the Process of Developing the Subject with Intellectual Disabilities presents the following guiding aspects: For the diagnosis of Intellectual Disability, what types of instruments and evaluations are used? How did the diagnosis affect the lives of family members? What is the role of the family in the development of the subject? In this context, this study aims to analyze the role of the family in the process of development of the subject with Intellectual Disability. In the methodology the qualitative approach was used, of descriptive character, where a case study will be developed. The participants of the research will be 4 families with subjects diagnosed with intellectual disability aged 8 to 12 years residing in Santa Maria, RS, as a tool for data collection will be used a semi-structured interview. For the analysis of the data, three categories were created, and the results show how important the family's role is to the development of the subject with intellectual disability, it is important to understand their limits, to follow up and interpret their needs, and to expand their possibilities in the process of teaching learning.
