dc.description.abstract | This study describes the action of three settled women who work treating diseases in a context
in which the Unified Health System (SUS) has restrictions regarding the assistance to the
population and the families settled in São Gabriel / RS. There is a similar case in Santa
Margarida do Sul/RS, where there is an effort to have a differentiated performance of SUS.
The objective of this study was to investigate the presence and manner of action of three
women working in the area of alternative health. In addition, we have planned to conduct a
historical review of the lives of women who work in alternative health, observe how they
obtain their experience, examine their practices, and understand how these practices
contribute to the daily lives of families and alleviate their suffering. The study is structured as
follows: a history of health in Brazil by the SUS, a definition of what SUS is, and a
description of the type of research and procedures to achieve the objective of the study guided
by a qualitative research. In order to obtain the information we used a script for interviews.
Finally, the closing remarks were made highlighting some results and using them for
reflection, since the life stories of the women are very similar to the story of each person
helped by them. With this work we intend to share the knowledge in the field of popular
alternative health developed by these women who are considered fighters and anonymous
heroines of the official story, but loved, admired and respected by the community where they
live and interact. | eng |

diferenciada do SUS.
vivem e convivem. | por |
