Abstract
O trabalho buscou revisar a literatura referente às esofagopatias
obstrutivas de cães e gatos que desenvolvem sinais semelhantes de
dilatação esofágica e que requerem tratamento cirúrgico. Foram abordados
aspectos anatômicos, histológicos, fisiológicos, clínicos, meios
diagnóstico, prognóstico, tratamento cirúrgico e pós-operatório de
determinadas moléstias obstrutivas mais freqüentes em cães e gatos, que
cursam com distensão mural. O levantamento mostra a relevância do
diagnóstico precoce e tratamento adequado de cada esofagopatia, para que
se obtenha melhor prognóstico e sucesso no procedimento adotado.
